during our adventures this weekend we went back to the natchez trace. the trace is an interesting stretch of highway that was created by native americans and full of history with stopping points about every half mile. commercial vehicles are not allowed on its roads and the speed limit is a consistent 50 mph, clearly not a road to travel for its speed. living so close to it gives us the chance to see how its forest changes throughout the seasons. the winter woods were full of enchanting tree bones and lacking the glorious hues of the autumn woods but the mossy hues left on the tree trunks were an alluring surprise. if you ever get the chance to visit the trace you should, especially in autumn, and be prepared by scheduling lots of time.
